Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why don't you ever answer your phone?

I know it's frustrating, especially in this day and age, to call somebody and not be able to reach them immediately.  Please understand that I am only one person and if I am with a client, I am unable to answer my phone. I sometimes toy with the idea of hiring a secretary to help drastically decrease the chances of missed calls, but that would mean that I would have to raise my rates. I aim to keep my prices as affordable as possible and I'm sure you don't want to see a price hike, either!  If I am unable to speak with you immediately, PLEASE leave me a voicemail and I promise to return your call as soon as I am able. Thank you for your  patience and understanding!

What kind of massages are offered?

I offer professional and ethical massage sessions that are relaxing, yet geared towards addressing any concerns you may have. I use different modalities in each session that are combined and customized according to your treatment goals in order to best deliver maximum benefits of your therapeutic session.

This is my first massage/facial. What can I expect?

You can expect to be treated with the utmost respect. Upon arriving at my office (located within Linda's Skin Care), you will fill out a client intake form, which you and I will review prior to starting your treatment. During the session, I will focus on the appropriate treatment areas according to what we discussed. If at any time you have any questions during the session, please be sure to ask. Working within your level of comfort will help you stay relaxed and the treatment more effective. After the session, you will get redressed and we will discuss any questions you may have as well as any suggestions I may have to help you continue looking and feeling better at home.

Should I come early to my appointment?

I cannot tell you how much that would make me happy! I grew up an Army brat, so if I'm not 10 minutes early, I'm late. If you are a new client, I ask that you please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time to fill out the Client Intake Form. If you are a returning client, I definitely would not mind if you are still 10 minutes early. It means we'll be able to start on time and not rush to get you in or out. Massages and facials are always more enjoyable when there's no rushing!

Do I have to completely undress?

No. You may disrobe to your level of comfort. However, some massage techniques are most effective when performed directly on the body without hindrance of clothing. During the massage, you will be covered with a sheet and blanket and only the body part worked will be draped (uncovered). During facials, I will provide you with a gown that you may wear if you choose.

Will I feel greasy after my massage/facial?

Probably not. During the massage, a blend of oil (either jojoba or coconut) and cream is used in order to hydrate the skin without feeling greasy or oily. During the facial, I will use the proper types of products for your skin type.

Will I be sore after the massage?
It is possible. Massage is a workout for your body, so just like a workout, you may be a little sore, especially if it is your first massage. It is important that you tell me to adjust the pressure if necessary. Drinking water post-massage helps to hydrate the muscles, allowing them to recover quicker.

Are there any medical conditions that would prevent me from getting a massage or facial?
Yes! If you have a condition that you are unsure if it is safe to receive a massage or facial, please consult with your physician before booking a session. There are also medications that could affect and/or prevent massage or facial treatments, so please list all of your allergies and medications on your intake form.

What kind of results can I expect to see after my facial?

As each person's skin varies greatly, so do your results. I will tailor your facial to your goals and your skin type. If you are a first time client,  I generally advise getting a Deep Cleansing Facial to start. During this type of facial, I can perform a deep cleansing of your skin and evaluate your skin in order to determine a proposed course of treatments. Much like massage, the benefits of facials are cumulative and your at-home care is just as important as what is done in the treatment room.

What is the tipping protocol?
Tipping is a nice gesture and in no way an obligation. If you believe that your massage or facial is tip worthy, you can tip as you feel appropriate. The biggest tip that you can give me is to rebook and tell your friends how great your service was!
